Let’s explore!! Have you ever wanted to bird at a place that you have never been to before? What will you see? How does one prepare for a new location for birding? Join the HBC Education Committee as we explore for the first time as a committee, Still Brook Park. Let’s see what birds we will find as we go through the pathways and trails of this fairly new park that was officially opened in 2024.
We will also share with you how to prepare when exploring a new area for birding, including ebird, maps, research and other tools you can use to prepare when birding a new location.
About Still Brook Park: Formerly known as Tuckahoe Turf Farm, this approximately 217-acre park that is owned by the town of Agawam is continuing to be transformed into a park with trails and facilities that offer canoeing, picnicking, fishing and birding. Some of the park’s development and transformation is still in progress as well as new amenities are being added.
We will meet at 8am in the pavilion/picnic area at the central meadow. Drive all the way into the park by entering the main entrance. Drive into the park where meeting place and parking will be on the left-hand side. The walk will be on trails which are gravel or dirt, and some are sidewalks or roads that are paved.
