Join Craig Allen and Brian Zylich for an outing around the south end of the Quabbin Reservoir searching for spring migrants and waterfowl. We'll look and listen for birds on land and on the water. Meet at the Quabbin Visitor Center (100 Winsor Dam Rd. in Belchertown) at 7:00 am for a walk along the dam. We'll then carpool to various locations throughout Quabbin Park. Plan on walking 1-2 miles on primarily paved roads/sidewalks. Most sections of the road are relatively flat, but some may be steeper. We may also go for a short walk (up to 1 mile) on a relatively flat dirt/gravel trail. There are few benches, but there will be opportunities to rest in the car as we travel between locations. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, appropriate footwear, and outerwear. Note: there is usually a porta-potty at the parking lot, but this is not guaranteed. Questions? Contact brian.zylich@gmail.com. Limited to 10 participants. (E)

Field Trip designations:

(M) – Moderately difficult, more challenging trail conditions, short steep sections, longer hikes.
(S) – Strenuous conditions, muddy or rocky trails, steep sections, difficult footing in part.
