Join Jim Lafley to observe the unique courtship rituals of the American Woodcock. We will listen for their unique “peents” and may see them in their “sky dance” flight in the low evening light. American Robins, Canada Geese, vultures, and blackbirds may also be seen and heard. We'll meet at at 6:45 pm at the Easthampton Community Garden on Park Hill Rd, Easthampton. This location is just down the hill from Park Hill Orchard, 82 Park Hill Rd. The trip will end at 7:30 pm. Participants will have the option to observe from the Garden parking lot or take a short walk to the Garden or field. There may still be some snow and there will be wet, muddy ground with uneven terrain. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear. Binoculars are helpful. Photography is difficult at best due to low light and distance from the birds. Please note there are no facilities. Questions? Email Jim at jimlafley@gmail.com. Limited to 10 participants. (E/M)
