American Woodcocks-Learn their habitat and how to find them

  • March 06, 2024
  • 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Spring is when male American Woodcocks perform a unique aerial courtship dance to attract a female. This spring ritual happens in the fields just after sunset.  Learn the natural history and habitat of the woodcock, as well as where to look to see its display.

You'll also learn how woodcock populations are in Massachusetts and the northeast and how we can help protect them.

Patti Steinman has studied American Woodcocks for over a decade. This workshop is connected to the HBC New Member Walk on March 9 at 5:45 at Easthampton Community Gardens on Park Hill Road, Easthampton.
