RARE BIRD ALERT RESOURCES FOR WESTERN MASS
The Hampshire Bird Club has discontinued the Rare Bird Alert through the HBC network. There are many other options for members interested in getting information about rare birds in our area and beyond. Below are a few of the sources we recommend if you’d like to know about rare bird sightings.
eBird Rare Bird Alert –Join eBird through the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology for free and sign up for either daily or hourly rare bird alerts by county to be emailed to you.
Western Mass Birders Facebook Page – Ask to join. The page moderator will add you, and then you will have access to the information on the page.
MassBird –To sign up for the MassBird Listserv please see MassBird Charter. MassBird is primarily an eastern Massachusetts report on sightings in different locations, but if you are traveling in that area, it can be helpful.
